Promoting cooperation to make Vietnam a leading golf tourism destination in the world
On October 31, at Laguna Lang Co (Hue City), within the framework of the National Tourism Year – Hue 2025, the Golf Course Owners Conference – Development of Golf Tourism in Vietnam took place.
The event is directed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People’s Committee of Hue City; organized in coordination by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports, Hue Department of Culture and Sports, Hue Department of Tourism, Corporation 54, and the Vietnam Golf Association (VGA).

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong delivered the opening speech at the Conference
Golf – a new driving force pushing Vietnamese tourism to the international level.
In his opening speech, Deputy Minister Ho An Phong emphasized that golf is becoming an important part of Vietnam’s strategy to develop high-quality and sustainable tourism. With a vision towards 2030, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism aims to develop golf as a premium tourism product, an economic, cultural, sports, and comprehensive tourism sector contributing to green growth, regional development, and promoting the national image.
Hue has identified golf tourism as a strategic direction in its goal of becoming a ‘City of heritage, festivals, and smart, sustainable tourism.’ Currently, the locality is calling for investment in 11 resorts combined with golf courses, among which the standout projects are Laguna Lang Co Golf Club, designed by the legend Nick Faldo, and BRG Golden Sands Golf Resort – a project that has received the National Urban Planning Award.
Vietnam Golf Tourism – New Horizon 2030
Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director General of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, stated that golf is not only a sport but also an interesting recreational activity and a service industry that generates significant revenue. In Vietnam in 2022, golf tourism revenue reached approximately 600 million USD and is expected to hit 1 billion USD by 2025, accounting for about 2.7% of the country’s total tourism revenue. It is forecasted that by 2030, this figure could reach several billion USD if it receives appropriate investment attention.
Mr. Jed Moore, Founder and CEO of the 54 Group, emphasized: “Golf is not the destination – golf is the starting point. Golf is the spearhead for the national sports strategy, capable of reshaping the economy, elevating the nation’s image, and inspiring future generations.” He believes that Vietnam needs to use golf as a catalyst for coordination between ministries, sectors, investors, and the community, aiming for the goal that by 2040, Vietnam will become a Global Sports Nation.
