Phu Quy Island ranks among the top 10 must-visit destinations in Southeast Asia in 2026
Phu Quy Island (formerly in Binh Thuan, now part of Lam Dong province), often described as ‘cinematically beautiful,’ was recently ranked by Thailand’s Khaosod English newspaper as one of the ‘Top 10 Most Pristine and Worth-Exploring Destinations in Southeast Asia in 2026.’
In the context of many popular tourist spots like Bangkok or Bali being overcrowded, Khaosod’s list focuses on ‘quiet corners,’ places that still retain their natural beauty, local charm, and unique experiences. Alongside Phu Quy are destinations like Ulu Temburong (Brunei), Nong Khiaw (Laos), and the Mergui Archipelago (Myanmar).
According to Khaosod English, Phu Quy is a choice for those who want to ‘listen to themselves’ amidst island nature, thanks to its emerald, green beaches, mountainous terrain, and breezy atmosphere, which are very different from mainstream destinations.

Phu Quy Island attracts both domestic and international tourists with its pristine beauty, untouched by mass tourism, and is highly regarded by regional experts. The sea is clear, the wind is strong, making it ideal for photography, nature exploration, and experiencing local life. Phu Quy Island focuses on a slow-paced lifestyle, different from the lively tourist islands in the area.
